About Where Geospatial

Where Geospatial is a non-profit organization whose mission is to boost the geospatial industry by identifying knowledge and structural gaps and developing custom solutions for them. Our vision is to establish a geospatial ecosystem that will aid development by utilizing geospatial technologies. We engage in four (4) main services namely building a geospatial community, geospatial blogging, online tutorials, webinar and conference organization. We welcome you to join our growing Telegram Community for quick access to like-minded geospatial professionals. Learn more about us from our main website www.wheregeospatial.com and follow us on LinkedIn to be updated with what we do.

Our Achievements:

  • Geospatial career development for 10 people in 2021.
  • We are the first organization to celebrate the first ever Remote Sensing Day in Africa in 2021.
  • We have recommended individuals for them to receive higher education opportunities in the U.S and Europe.

About the Spatial Data Infrastructure(SDI)

The Where Geospatial SDI was born to resolve the challenges faced by geospatial professionals when looking for data in Africa in particular and beyond for spatial projects and analysis. We therefore created this SDI to make data available to all for FREE.

Where Geospatial has taken the lead in developing a Multi-Level Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) that collects, coordinates, and produces data while also making it freely accessible to the public. The SDI would give data at the national, regional, and sub-regional levels, which might be utilized as a baseline or main data for researchers, entry-level geospatial professionals, or standard projects.

To achieve this aim, we do the following:

  • We work with volunteers to help review the metadata quality.
  • We work with individuals and organizations who have data to share with the public.
  • We ensure a good data check pipeline.
